  1. rack or rotary doesnt matter it depends on how much room you have  stay with whats there now, and check this web site out, i bought my new cable from them and it was cheaper and arrive on time

  2. "Rack" uses a geared steering shaft (pinion) to operate a geared rack that pushes and pulls the cable.

    Rotary uses a cable that is wraped with another spiraled cable and this is operated by a wheel (pulley type system).

    There is surely a better way to explain it, but once you see them, you will understand the difference.
