Halp! I have no idea about this. I never really paid attention to make up when I was a teenager and slightly regret it now. There seems to be so many things that do the same job....or maybe they do different things, I don't know. Can they all be used together or not?

Any advice you girls can give would be great ^_^

  1. okay so

Base: this tends to be a whiter formula which helps to prepare the skin for the other layers of make-up to come.

Concealer: is thicker than foundation and is used to cover up blemishes, freckles and any other skin imperfections.

Primer; you use this to prime the eye area for the use of eye shadow, liner etc.

Foundation: is a all over face cream which hides imperfections and replenshes your skin tone. It also hides uneven skin tones.

Highlight: highlight is used under the eyes. This hides dark circles and any other dark patches on your face. This tends to have a orange base so don't use it all over you face unless you wanna look like a orange.

Mascara: accentuates the eyelashes, some add volume others add length.

Eyeliner: Addscolour to the eyes and brings out the eye colour. Never ever ever apply black eyeliner in the wet slicks of your eyes!!! USe a white kohl pencil, it will make you eyes look bigger.

lip liner: makes the lips stand out way more than usual. don't over do it and make sure to blend it in other wise you'll look like an eighties hooker. ( no offence to any)

Lipstick: Gives you a different lip colour. To match your outfit or style that day.

Lip Gloss: gives the lips a shiny glossy look that attract attention to the lips.

Blush: Blush accentuates your cheek bones. Once again not too much or you'll look like an eighties hooker.

Bronzer: gives you a bronze shimmery feel to your face and catches the light. Use this on your T zone ( nose forhead) or cheekbones or for an all over glimmer. Don't over do it or you'll look like you had a bad fake tan.

thats pretty much the basic nessesaties.

    have fun experimenting!

    peace

    xx

  2. a primer is something you put on as a barrier betweeen your skin and foundation. the reason for using a primer is that it makes your skin smoother and you don't need as much foundation to get a beautiful finish. i happen to love PHOTOFINISH by SMASHBOX.

a concealer is something you use in areas where your normal skin looks a little different. this could be redness from a pimple or blackhead. it could be dark circles under your eyes. there are also tricks to using a concealer to make your nose look shorter or narrower. LAURA MERCIER makes the best one out there.

foundation is the makeup you use to make your skin look like one tone. GIORGIO ARMANI is one that's used by a lot of makeup artist who do all the major stars.

  3. of course you can use base, concealer, primer, & foundation together.

base, is basically the powder you put on after your foundation.

primer; - theres two different kinds of primer, eye primer, - to help eye makeup stay on longer, and foundation primer, - to help keep foundation loner lasting, and looks flawless on face.

concealer - theres different types of concealer, that's why when you go buy concealers, you see a ones that matches your tone, and a green one. - the green one is to cover up pimples/zits, and the one that matches your tone, is put up under your eyes, to cover your bags, and maybe around your lips,

heres a order of how you can put on makeup.

    - moisturizer, primer, concealer, foundation, base, blush/bronzer.

    :)

  4. Primer/Moisturiser are the same thing and they are just prepping your skin for the make up to go on. These go on first, and remember the best ones to suit you aren't always the most expensive.

Foundation/Base goes on next. If you've got good skin I wouldn't bother using it cos it just clogs your pores. If you do need one, buy a light, moussy textured one (not oil based) that matches the skin tone of your face perfectly, don't try it out on your hand cos your hands are a totally different shade to your face.

Concealer goes on next. Try and match the shade of your foundation but if you can't then go for one a shade lighter rather than darker. Put it on any spots or blemishes you have and any dark shadows under your eyes (you might want to get a light reflecting one for this area).

I have pretty good skin and never use foundation, all I do is apply a good moisturiser (Oil of Olay), wait for it to sink in then use concealer (Collection 2000 stick is the best for me, only £1.79 each!) and a little powder (Rimmel Translucent £2.69) to keep my makeup on. Finish it off with blusher/bronzer on your cheeks, eye makeup and a little lip gloss. If you don't want to use full-on eye make up (liner & shadow) you still need to definitely use mascara to finish off any look.

  5. iv found the best thing that works for me and my mum. it is a mineral powder that has the best coverage and doesn't clog pours. mum has really red cheeks and broken veins lol! and this is the best thing she has used for years - great coverage with just a powder! not cheap but worth it thw site is clientelle.com ( i think) and you can get it on the q.v.c website

    good luck hope i helped
