Difference between total FTC power and total peak power?

ok the set of speakers im looking has 505 watts RMS of FTC power and 1010 watts of total peak power.

so whats the difference?

  1. I know which speakers you are referring to. Note that the AC power into the system is fused at 1.5 amps (on 230 volts ac). There is no way the quoted power levels can be produced as there are only 345 watts going into the power socket available before the fuse will fail. That fuse is there to stop the fire that might occur in the woofer cabinet if that current of 1.5 amps is exceeded. Global warming can be cured by these loudspeakers! 345 watts in and 505 or 1010 watts out? Perhaps the term should be WTF watts. These computer speakers are so good(!) that all recording studios use them not! Why do they spend thousands on huge speakers when they could buy this box of stuff for peanuts?
