One is marked "VR" and one is marked "ED II". Does anyone know what the difference is? I am looking for clarity in my photographs so which ever one will aid in that will be my choice.

The cash difference is of no importance to me if one of the two helps with sharpness/clarity.

  1. VR stand for vibration reduction. It prevents camera shake when shooting at slow shutter speeds. ED stands for extra dispersion, Nikon's special glass that is added to their expensive line of lens. its also added to their digital lens to prevent color shifts and other image problems associated with digital images. ED will help sharpness and clarity.

  2. 149 $ the same as 119 $ .. but it is for longer distance.. like if you take a photo in a football game ..

    I recommended 119$

  3. If you are a new to photography, then the VR would be the one to buy.  VR is the vibration reduction system on Nikon lenses.  If you already have good available light shooting skills, the EDII is a great lens.

  4. The main difference is that the VR lens has vibration reduction (or image stabilisation) that allows handholding to slower shutter speeds.

There are also differences in the optical layout of the lenses, but how much these will be detected in photos, I don't know.

Click on the "Features" tab under the picture of each lens.
