Difference between university thesis and department thesis.?

Question

I am a grad student of Biology, starting with my thesis soon. Not sure what is the difference between university thesis and department thesis and which one is better to pursue. Can someone please explain

I've never heard of anything like this; if your school actually has both, they'll know the answer.
