I'd like to know what my options are for contraception, when I was younger I was on the pill but it made me put on a lot of weight and I had the injection and it made me really ill and I was on my period 3 weeks at a time with 1 week off!! Now me and my boyfriend are using condoms but we no longer want to use them as they irritate my skin, I want to know what other methods of contraception there are that don't have such severe side effects???

  1. theres also diaphram, coil, or you can get an implant which just goes under your skin in the top of your arm and last for 5years. discuss it with your doctor and family planning clinic, they will go through all the details of what wil suit you best, or theres also different types of pill maybe you could go on another type

  2. hi

Natural method of rhythmn. It is more effective than condoms when used effectively. But obviously has no STD protection value

I wont go into the details here, but search the details yourself. You can use a machine called PERSONA which you can buy easily and gives you reassurance especially in the early days. Really look into it i have used it for 9 years or so.

  3. There's the implanon.

However, I had this in for 3 years and my periods were all over the place and I had no s*x drive!

I went back on the pill. I think I've probably gained weight by going back on it. But now I know when I'm getting my period, which is the best thing for me.

Maybe stick with the pill, but join a gym or something?

  4. Hi, try using vaginal contraceptive called Today. Its a pill that has to be inserted inside the v****a 5-10 minutes before you have the intercourse. It melts and has got a substance which kills the sperms. It is very convenient to use, no side effects and gives a natural feeling.

  5. Yuck.

    Periods, disgusting.

  6. You could have the implanon...which is like a bar they put in your arm and it lasts for around 3 years.  But once its in, you dont have to keep going back all the time.  You just get it removed when the three years is up, or anytime before that if you so wish.

When it is taken out, there is no risk that you wont be able to have kids or anything like that.  so i would say thats the best option.
