What is the difference between full board, rough board, and semi rough board. I'm interested in boarding a horse in the future. Also, what is the average/general difference in price? Let me know! :) :) Thanks!

  1. Full board:  The barn feeds, cleans and waters your horse.

Semi Rough board:  You buy the feed and you clean the stall, but they will feed and water your horse for you.

Rough board:  You buy the feed and feed, water and clean your own stall.

  2. Full board they do everything. $350-500 up

Semi Rough Board they usually do things like feed and water but you are responsible for mucking out etc. 100-300 give or take

Rough Board you do everything.usually somewhere in the range of 100.

prices though depend on where you live, and how much hay is. Some places will require you supply the food for your horse and others wont.

  3. Full board means stall is cleaned for you and hay is provided. Usually the horse is turned out for you and they are fed the amount of hay you request.

Rough board means you pay for the stall and the turn out. Usually you have to do all of the work. You clan the stall and provide hay and feed and turn out.

Semi rough board is somewhere in between full and rough. Some barns will allow you to make a schedule. For example, they feed and turn out in the morning and you bring the horse back to it's stall and feed at night.

Prices really depends on how fancy the barn is. In Oregon I know that rough can be about $200 and full can be anywhere between $300 and $600 and of course for semi it depends on how much care you ask for.  Remember, you get what you pay for :)

Good luck and I hope I helped :)

  4. im pretty sure a full board they feed your horse water clean out the stall.

im pretty sure a rough bored they might feed and water

im pretty sure a semi rough bored is when you do everything

i found them to no less then 350, with stalls and an indoor riding ring and out door. We bored at my house for 125 because we dont have stalls or an indoor riding ring

  5. Prices depend on where you live.  By me, in a barn with an indoor arena and 4 outdoor rings, it costs a little over $1,000 a month for full board.  In full board, they do everything from mucking out to feeding, watering and turning out.  Rough board will cost about $850 here and they will feed and water  your horsed but you need to muck out.  Semi-rough board will require you to feed, water, muck out, and take care of your horse, but they will provide a stall and a riding area.  This usually costs about $600 by me.  Good luck!
