Is smiling a sign of being OK and laugh a sign of being happy? I smile at people, but it doesn't mean that I'm happy. If smiling a sign of happiness, how can i show them that I'm not happy or sad/mad at them, that I'm just OK?

  1. I know what you mean. I smile at everyone because it's polite and it makes me feel good. It doesn't mean I'm happy because I'm actually pretty miserable all the time, but it does help when people smile back. You can give a half hearted smile that shows you're acknowledging that they are there to express that you're just okay. That's what I do at least.

  2. Unless you fake a smile, both can be a sign of being happy and confident.  The only major difference is a smile doesn't emulate any noise, and a laugh does.

  3. I laugh many times but i m not happy inside! Sponataneity is the real sign of feelings!

  4. People can tell anyway. A fake smile usually never involves raised eyebrows.

  5. When you smile; you aren't making any noise and it's hard for others to think what you are feeling and thinking.  When you are laughting; other people know that you think something is funny to an extant where you have to make emotions.

  6. smiling doesnt  show your deep inner feelings but laughing shows how much your are happy about sth.
