Differences between Kobe, Wagyu & Mishima beef?

We've all heard of Kobe beef, but what is so special about Wagyu & Mishima beef?

  1. Techincally, Kobe beef comes from  Hyōgo Prefecture in Japan.  

    Wagyu is the type of cow that Kobe beef is derived from...  Wagyu beef is now raised in other countries and have very similar qualities of Kobe, but can't be called Kobe unless the beef originated in Japan.

    Mishima beef is from Mishima Island Yamaguchi Prefecture.  Also, it is the type of cow found in that area.


  2. Kobe beef comes from a black breed of Wagyu cattle...which makes it the same.

    Mishima beef is not as known as  the Kobe beef and comes from Mishima cattle. So the difference would be just a different breed.
