  1. Impression management is the more general term and can include the second term, stigma management

Stigma management is a narrower term and relates only to our attempts to manage whatever aspects of our presentation  have low or negative values in our culture.  These might relate to bodily disfigurements, or skin colour, hair colour, obesity or (especially for men) excessive lack of muscularity, or the many signs of ageing.

In one way  there has been  some cultural change in this relationship between impression and stigma management as consumerism has  been based on trying to persuade us that we have an increasing number of stigmatic features (my favourite is the advert for  'rough elbows') that we can only overcome by buying some commodity.

  2. No, they are  different..... stigma is something that is already being attached to something...Like rich people have the stigma of being  snobs... stigma.... Now an impression, is something someone gives off... For example,  You might have been given  the impression someone was the  king of New York... or  you might be under the impression you are a talking horse... who knows... but ... one gives off something and one already has something attached to it...

  3. impression management is the process through which people try to control the impressions other people form of them. Impression management (IM) theory states that any individual or organization must establish and maintain impressions that are congruent with the perceptions they want to convey to their publics (Goffman, 1959). Basically, this is the impression you want others to see you as. For instance, if I want to be seen as a person who loves to study I will carry books, suitcase, lap tops, look like i'm always actively thinking.

The writer above me described Stigma Management, great. I just wanted to add more to Impression management. :)
