  1. 1. Cell voltage (NiCd = 1.2 V; Pb-PbS04 = 2.0V)

    2. Electrolyte (NiCd = semisolid paste; Pb-PbS04 = liquid) This means that you can operate NiCds in any position while the lead-acid is limited to vertical, only.

    3. Power density (NiCd = lower; Pb-PbS04 = higher)

    4. Absolute size (NiCd limited to fairly small sizes; Pb-PbSO4 can be scaled up to 1000 Amp-hours or more).  On the other hand -- NiCds can be made very small to fit into small portable electronic devices.

    .

  2. lead acid batteries are those common batteries that are disposable, well, dispose properly. while nikel cadmium ones are batteries that can be recharged when induced into its rated voltage output.
