What would be some differences between a state-funded child placement agency and a private adoption agency in regard to how they deliver their adoption services?

  1. State funded will be run by small minded, suspicious, barely competent,  afraid to make decisions type people.  Mostly no regard for peoples needs and concerns, willing to drag out every procedure because they are afraid to offend their 'higher ups', their most active moments come with clock watching and avoiding responsibilities.  Their last concern is with the happiness of any participants.  As has been said, if the government was in charge of the Sahara Desert, in five years there would be no sand.  Hope this helps.  Have a nice day.

  2. The first is a social service;

    The second is a business in which babies are the commodity.

  3. The state has children who have been taken away (usually) from their parent for various reasons such as neglect, abandonment, drug use, abuse, alcohol related issued, and sexual abuse.   In this world which is not perfect, these kids usually have issues that need to be dealt with through doctors and phychologists.

    Private adoption agencies usually have babies for adoption, or in rare cases, the position where the mother for any number of reasons chooses to place her child (or both parents), before she gets in a position of having the state take the kids.  With the state, they pay for things like home studies, attorney fees, medical throughout the kids' lives, and more.  With a private agency (or just private adoption), it is the responsibility of the adoptive parents to pay for all the expenses, sometimes including the first mom's medical.  The state doesn't charge fees, and the private agencies often have fees upwards of $20,000.00 for a healthy baby.  Since they are for profit agencies, they often leave out the feelings of pregnant women, and coerce and talk them out of keeping their children, no matter what, even threatening them with lawsuits, etc.  With the state, kids might be placed in foster care, however, their job is to try to re-unite the kids with their biological parents.    It seems to be a cycle that preys on circumstances, where wealthy people can go and "buy" a baby, and where poor people who have better homes and love for a child don't get to adopt babies.  Also, the poorer birth moms get preyed upon with the threats.

    I do not recommend a pregnant woman to go through an agency, unless it is through a church.

  4. There may be general answers, but the best advice I've gotten on all adoption issues to succeed is to personally  talk to those who have hands on experience in your community,

  5. From what I know the state agency deals with kids in the foster care system who have been abused or neglected and can't be placed back with their family, so need a new family. Private adoption agencies deal mostly with placing newborns whose parents have decided at birth to place them for adoption. So with the state program you are dealing with older kids (there maybe be a few infants or young children, but mostly older). With private agencies you are dealing with newborns, whose parents have decided not to parent.

    The cost differs widely, with foster care adoptions being very low cost. Private adoptions are quite expensive ($10,000+?).

    Other than that I know private agencies can help with things like step parent adoptions, but I assume that isn't what you're asking about.
