  1. All I know is, the Americans don't get school holidays in between every term, they only get one school break in the whole year which is 3 months (in other words, all of summer). They also mainly don't wear uniforms.

  2. On the whole I think they teach spelling in Australia.

And they also teach students about other countries.

I don't believe there are any creationist schools in Australia.

You generally start school at 5/6 years and finish at 17/18 years.

School year is February to November with holidays at Easter (1week), June/July (2 weeks), and September (1 week).  Then from Nov/Dec to Feb.

    Most schools have uniforms.

  3. im aussie so will see if this helps.

    uniform is compulsary

    0-2yr old - day care

3-4 yr old - pre school (like day care but more advanced)

5yr old - kindergarten (parents discretion on age some start at 6yrs old, there for the following will change by one year)

    6yr old to 12 yr old - year 1 - year 6

here we call kindergarten to year 6 primary school

    13 yr old to 18yr old - year 7 to year 12

we call this high school we do our HSC in year 12

then we have an option as to whether to go to university or not we dont have to wear a specific uniform and there is no age limit, we also have tafes which is basically a form of uni with out the high degrees.

The curriculum i would imagin is the same every where, with your maths, english, science, PDHPE, art, cooking, wood work, computers, sewing, drama, language, music etc.

holidays are 4 times a year so every 3 months which we call a term. holidays last 2 weeks except at xmas they last 6 weeks.

discipline is mainly time out and detention, 2 detentions means suspension and 6 suspensions means expelled.

im not sure we have any regulations other then the above mentioned

school hours start around 9 am and finish between 3 and 3.30pm

    hope this helps

  4. american school get bombed.

    we dont

  5. This is too large a question for Australian schools; and I think, for American schools as well. Here in Australia, Education is regulated by the States individually, so circumstances and curricula differ.

If you are doing an essay, then I would take one aspect eg, Discipline or Maths or Uniform and deal with that. That would be a mammoth task because of the number of states involved in both countries.

If you are looking for information in order to make an informed choice, then email the Education department in each state.
