Question:

Different IQ assessments....?

I took an IQ test online and it seemed legit.. scored a 138 (51 questions answered correctly out of 60)... Although I recall taking a Stanford-Binet IQ test to enter a gifted program in school and scoring much lower (125... still good but considerably inferior to 138). Is it possible for the IQ to rise or is the internet test I took ( I honestly forgot which one, I just found it on google and was curious... like i said it seemed to have simliar questions about patterns, logic, number sequences, anagrams, comparisons, etc.) just a bunch of c**p?

  1. If you want an accurate intelligence test, I would rx you pay to be administered the Weschler Adult Intelligence Test Scale, latest edition.  One new factor in some mental capacity tesiting is the ability to interact well with others.  The most respected universities are always "tweaking" the scope of the test and weight to give to a subset within the test.  The WAIS is not entirely a "pencil and paper" test and kind of helps to detect students who have a reading deficit.  Now, this is just a report from my free memory of 20 years ago.

  2. The first time i did one, in a controlled environment by mensa, i scored 167, ive done loads online since then and cant get it to above 142, some as low as 127. I think my brain is deteriorating with age. But i actually blame computers! haha

  3. Intelligence is not an absolute number for life. You may gain or lose. However, the IQ assessment has to be a little more sophisticated than an Internet test by people who want to sell you something.

  4. when you are younger you are smarter when you get older you are dumb i know this because when i was 11 i scored a 140 and now im at 93 oh yea im 14 i guess playing around and not study my IQ went down

  5. Not only is it possible to score higher or lower on the same IQ test taken at different times (maybe you're overtired, or have something on your mind), different IQ tests are scored differently. For instance, four of us took an unsupervised IQ test for MENSA ... our scores ranged from 156 to 163+, and we were all invited to do a supervised test. We did, and were all invited to join MENSA ... despite the fact that the scores were about 20 points lower, because it was, understandably, a different IQ test that was administered.

  6. iq's can change marginally.
