What is the difference between 4 year college, and community college?

  1. A four year college is one that will give you a Bachelor's Degree.

    Generally, at a community college you can only obtain an Associate's Degree, which is a two year program.  It is possible to get your Associate's and then transfer to a four year program to cut costs, or to complete other general education requirements at a community institution before switching to a four year program.
