  1. The circulatory system carries the blood around the body.  So, the functions it serves are the ones that the blood does:  carrying nutrients and O2 to cells, carrying CO2 and wastes away from cells, and bringing the white blood cells to the areas where they function.

    The Wikipedia entry has a pretty good first sentence to sum it all up.
