Different kind of rats

Question

Can someone please explain the differences in Fancy Rats and those huge rats that I see when I look up videos on pet rats on youtube? Where do people even get rats that huge?

Only ''huge'' rats I can think of, are Gambians (Giant Pouched Rat, African Pouched Rat, etc).

Think of 'Big Ben' in the movie Willard.

They are NOT pets for everyone.

If you mean regular Fancy Rats that are just larger than usual, there is the 'Zucker' strain that's known for obesity.

Also, males are larger than the females (my 11 month old male weighs 1.33 lbs, 6 month old male is 1 lb while my females are 1/2 lb on average)

Your meaning isn't overly clear. But anything you see on YouTube listed as a pet rat, especially if it's large, is a fancy rat. Rats from good breeders tend to be bigger overall than the rats you see at your local pet stores. Unaltered male rats from good lines can get very large, rat lovers tend to refer to them as squishes!

just like people, individual rats come in different sizes.  also, males do tend to be bigger than females, and depending on what they're fed, some rats can get pretty overweight.  as long as your rats look healthy and not too skinny, i wouldn't worry about their size.
