Question:

Different opinions/beliefs about various forms of discrimination, injustices, mistreatment, and etc

Everyone has had different experience, situations, up raising. Race and gender are two of the sharply sensitive and divisive issues. Blacks believe they are still treated as 2nd class citizens and slavery against Blacks are continuing against 21st century. Women believe men make more than them, and men practice gender discrimination. Asian men believe they are fated to single-hood and celibacy.

How do we all deal with all these differing and divisive beliefs and experiences? When one group raises their believed disadvantages/discrimination, most reactions from other groups are derogatory and insulting....

Is is possible for us to improve our ability to empathize? Is there a better way to understand and deal with problems and struggles of others?

  1. Yes, I think we can obliterate the prejudice and discrimination that exists just by simply treating everyone like equal human beings. The more we give claim and acknowledgment to issues like racism, the more they gain exposure and become instilled in our minds as *fixed* problem. People should realize that we do have the power to reverse the damage we made, just as much as we had the power to create these problems. And once we learn to forgive and understand, we can eliminate feelings of superiority or entitlement that lead us to judge others.

This could be more easily done by training our children to love and share friendships with others despite race and class. I don't think people were born with stereotypes or having a natural predisposition to hate others who are different from them. Even though we may be naturally attracted to beauty or people within our own culture, that is just a slightly influential preference which does not excuse people for alienating and persecuting others outside their culture. We also have an innate curiosity, an interest in new and unfamiliar things. So we should learn to embrace both aspects in life.
