  1. One thing to bear in mind as I found out. If your old monitor was a CRT one you will have to buy a new video/graphics card for it as well. Mine cost about £40 from Nvidia.

The reason for this is a CRT monitor runs on an analogue signal and a LCD screen runs on a digital signal. I had crashes after running for about 20 minutes till I realised what it was. Put in a new digital graphics card, loaded the drivers and have never looked back.

I've got a 22" widescreen LCD now from a 17" CRT and wonder sometimes how the h**l I managed before. They do though for the first few hours take a lot of getting used to!

  2. No, the brand doesn't matter....just be aware that your video card may not support any widescreen modes, so you may not be able to take advantage of a widescreen monitor.  The monitor itself may have special drivers that will give you additional widescreen modes.

  3. no u can buy any make of monitor
