Question:

Different prescription?

I have had 3 eye tests recently, when i went for my routine eye test they found a problem with pressure in my eyes and my peripheral vision. They gave me a prescription and also referred me to another optician to investigate further.

The prescription they gave me was

R, +0.5 x -0.25 x 80

L, +0.5

I then went to the optician i was referred to about a month later and they cleared the problems that the previous optician thought, but then gave me another prescription,

R, -0.5

L, +0.25 x -0.25 x 154

I wasn’t convinced by these two as they are quiet different, so i decided to go to a different company and i was given the prescription

R, +0.5

L, +0.25 x -0.25 x 165

Then there was Near vision N5 both eyes.

I have never felt a need for glasses, so do i need glasses, and if so what prescription do i use?

thanks

  1. Please keep in mind that this is just my opinion, but  I have worked for an eye doctor for eight years and if I had any of the three prescriptions I would not get it filled.  There is really not a huge difference in the three and none of them are very strong. So, unless you begin to notice trouble seeing, I would not worry about it. Just be sure to have an exam regularly to keep tabs on your pressure and make sure the RX doesn't get worse.  Hope I helped!

  2. On Rx #2, was that how it was written or was it a typo on your end for the right lens?  You have -.50,  the others say +.50, which will make a difference.

Overall you have a slight far sighted correction and it is very minor, especially the left. I would say don't get them UNLESS you went in with a visual complaint originally. You may notice a marginal difference in your vision, probably not enough to make it worth the expense.
