I was just wondering what type of riding style every one does here.

Do you ride western or english?

With a bit or with out a bit?

Shoes or no shoes?

I ride western with out a bit, and no shoes.

and i mostly ride with out shoes but if im planning on going to a show or to a camp i like to put shoes on my horses

  2. Reining- bit and sliding shoes!

  3. my paint horse i ride western with out a bit and shoes but any of my other horses i ride  western with  bit and no shoes but we hardly ever ride them and when we o we ride on soft dirt or grass the only reason paint doesn't need a bit is he respond to any bit and the only reason he has shoes is because he is really tender footed they are so tender that even on dirt they hurt an when we run barrels and poles he would stop and trot and he woulnt go any faster than that so we had to put on him

    i ride in

    barrels

    poles

barrel pick up (with my cuz)

    flags

    speed

and the cataloge race (new at the playday)

  4. I ride some western but mostly english.  I have also ridden spanish vaquero style which is similar to western but with a much more english leg and seat.  While riding english I do dressage and trail riding.  I also do quite a bit of natural horsemanship.  I ride both with and without a bit, and my pony is shoeless, although that may change soon, as she is getting older and her feet wear down faster.  I also ride in a treeless saddle.  I love horse riding!

  5. Well lets see, it all depends what horse i'm riding

    My mare-western

    with a bit

    no shoes

    My gelding-western/english

    without a bit

    no shoes

    My arab mare-bareback

with and without a bit...depends on her mood

    no shoes

  6. I ride English, with a bit, and no shoes :)

  7. i ride english hunter-jumper

    with a bit (eggbutt snaffle)

shoes on the front 2 feet

  8. i do both but most of the time english with a bit and shoes on the front but yeah i like both kinds of riding.

  9. I ride:

Hunters, with front shoes and a full cheek snaffle.

Dressage, with a KK Ultra Loose Ring and padded eggbar shoes.

  10. I ride English - Hunter/Jumper

Most of the time I use a bit (loose ring french link) but sometimes I put my mare in a hackamore. I used to use it on her all the time, but it gave ME some bad habits.

My jumper mare wears 4 shoes, Hunter gelding is barefoot, but he might be getting front shoes in the near future.

  11. Engish-dressage

    Bit

    SHOES

  12. I rode English, with a bit, with shoes

But I am trying to switch to Western

  13. I ride western, with and without a bit, no shoes - assuming you mean shoes on the horse, of course.....

  14. i ride everything

    english

    western

    speed

    jumping

    racehorses

    trail

    eventing

    polo

    barrels

    poles

    bronc riding

    roping

    team pening

    all those good rodeo events

    vaulting

    halter

    showmanship

you name it, i do it

all with shoes of course, as far as bits goes, depends on which horse and which event

  15. I ride English.

    No Bit (unless fox hunting)

    Shoes in front

  16. I ride with a bit most of the time on my western pleasure gelding but sometimes i don't use a bit. With shoes.

  17. I ride english, dressage mostly, sometimes I jump.  I ride with a bit, my ponies would kill me without one.  They where shoes, since the are shown and worked a lot, and sometimes have to stand/wait on hard surfaces often at shows and all.

  18. Western, with a bit, no shoes. I learned from friends who rode English, but the posting eluded me, and western is more comfortable, at least for me.

  19. dressage/ english

    about to ride western

    when i get the saddle.

    rubber snaffle bit

    I have shoes on

My horse has front shoes on.

  20. i ride english sometimes western with a bit both times and boots.

  21. I ride english with a bit and shoes.

  22. Western all the way I can ride both but enjoy Western so much more. I use a hackamore and my horse is barefoot.
