So i was about to process some raw image files, i plugged a 2nd monitor to my laptop so that i can have more room to see things in photoshop and pretty much im noticing that the same images displayed on my laptop screen and the other monitor look different...

... i could theoretically try to adjust one screen to look more like the other, but how do i know which one is right? when i print the images, would the prints be closer to one screen or the other ?

i already looked at some color callibration web sites, but im quite confused about this...

thanks for any info...

  1. Actually they both may be wrong and your printer may still be different. You do need to calibrate if you are editing your own color for printing. The best way to do it is with a combination of a calibration device and the software that comes with it. Spyder and Color Munki are some of the top sellers out there for this.  The device will be placed on your screen and then the software flashes colors and adjust the output. One device can do all your displays, laptop and desktop.
