Fundamental quantities are self explanatory. that is, they need no explanation in reference to other quantities.examples are,length,time etc. on the other hand derived quantities are derived from other fundamental quantities.examples are many like area,volume,density,surface tension, momentum,angular velocity,resistivity,power,work done(energy), viscosity etc
