  1. Some people believe that if other people touch their cards, they will "dirty" the passage the tarot creates to the divine. Others find this silly and don't adhere to this policy. This could be why she won't let you touch the cards. Also, every deck looks different because there isn't a standard for tarot.

  2. I use ancestral path tarot cards I think they are pretty and since I only read for myself and not others I use a book called tarot made easy.  So people don't like it but I have used this book for so long that it's accurate  but is not super detailed like if you went to a really good tarot card reader.

I say whatever your comfortable with is good you don't need to worry about someone elses thoughts.

  3. Hello Sweeta

There are thousands of Tarot card decks, many different designs, each reader has to go to what they are drawn to as they are the ones who have to build a relationship with them.

There are also many different layouts, with most experienced readers creating their own.

Some readers will not let another touch their deck, others will.

Yes order matters, but some use tarot as a stepping stone, so the cards are irrelevant, some use the cards alone.

  4. Tarot is a way of divining information.  Different cards are a matter of preference by the one using them.  There are standard meanings of each card, and those cards, depending on what other cards lie near them can be affected by them (surrounding cards).  Classically the cards, if laid inverted (upside down) also take on a different meaning, sometimes described as an opposite meaning.    There are many different layouts common ones are 10 card, 3 card and full deck.

The "order" of the cards does matter, particularly in what part of the question the card reflects.

Overall, the one interpreting the cards is the key to understanding to reading.  Card selection is like picking your favorite piece of jewelry for an event.

  5. That's because there is not one single valid Tarot deck. There are many kinds of decks, with different themes, like Goddes Tarot, Ancestral Path Tarot, Thoth Tarot, Osho Zen Tarot, etc. Most decks are based on the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, with a few variations to fit the theme of the deck. Some are almost totally different. But whatever card is used, it all depends on the reader and his/her intuition how they are interpreted. The tarot cards are just a tool. The reader may have a different way of shuffling them or handling the cards, but maybe that's what works for him/her. There are many schools of thought with Tarot and each of them are valid in their own way. There is no fixed way of dealing with the cards.

  6. The different decks have different pictures, but they all have the same meanings.  There have just been a lot of decks put out over the centuries and from different countries, some because of language, some just want new artwork.  There are many different layouts as well, even if all the cards are laid out, you would not get the same reading as someone else, as it depends on what order they come out in and what position they wind up in.
