  1. there are videos on youtube of people feeding them mice

you might find one in your cupboard lol

  2. Don't feed oscars hamburger, the fat in it is not good for your fish. I would be careful feeding oscars food from the cabinet and fridge, as they may harm them, if they will take it, peas, lettuce, I know that you can find more info on the net, join a group of oscar owners. They would be able to give better advise. Make sure that your tank hood is secure...oscars jump out of tanks...mine did..he jumped while we were sleeping and died.

  3. Some food that you can feed an Oscar.

Frozen shrimps - just get them frozen from the supermarket and thaw a couple out as needed

Earthworms - just dig them up in the garden and wash them.

Crickets, grasshoppers and other insects. Make sure they haven't been sprayed with anything though.

    Pieces of raw fish.

Think about things they might find in their natural environment, things that live or fall into a tropical stream. Shrimps, small fish, insects etc.

Avoid beef or other red meat, fish generally have difficulty digesting the fats, although a little beef or chicken heart doesn't seem to harm them.

  4. Feeder fish are actually not a very good thing to feed your Oscars because they are often inbred and carry diseases that any other carnivorous fish/reptile can fight off but Oscars cannot. A varied diet can include insects (crickets), insect larvae, worms, krill, shrimp, commercial cichlid pellet or flake foods, beef heart (lean meats), crustaceans, and vegetable matter.

  5. I used to feed my oscar beetles and other insects I found outside. I also used to catch small lizards sometimes and give them to my oscar. I even fed him pinky mice one time, but didn't feel too good about that. An oscar can be trained to eat almost anything. Think about this, oscars are originally from the Amazon jungle. Think about all the different things they might find to eat there. Insects, small fishes, very small animals, even certain types of plant material. You must be careful what you feed them though. You can experiment, but don't give your oscar something that might hurt him physically or might have chemicals on it.
