I love writing, and I'd like to major in Journalism and be a newspaper editor, but I was wondering if there are any other types of jobs in journalism that are centered around writing as well?

  1. Oh definitely. You can write for magazines, or for a news agency like the Associated Press, you can turn towards the area where journalism meets PR and write for a company's inhouse magazine or their intranet site.

You'll also need good writing skills in radio and tv journalism, but other abilities are also important in this area. And on top of that, bear in mind taht, particularly as an editor, you'll be improving and rewritng other peoples' texts more frequently than writing your own.

I'd recommend getting some work experience, or maybe even try and get a freelance job with your local paper or volunteer at your community radio. All these will help you find out what you'll ultimately want to be.

Good luck, it's a great job!
