Different types of Rum?

Is Castillo Gold Puerto Rican Rum used mainly for baking or is it used for other drinks too?

In the Caribbean rum is used in baking and is the main ingredient in fruit cakes and black cakes. Rum is also used to preserve fruits.

However, rum is mainly used in many alcoholic beverages and also served straight. Rum is made from sugar cane and is basically gold or white in colour. It is also aged to refine it's taste.

Rum is NEVER made for baking, but there are many that I would never drink.

I've seen Castillo together with Palo Viejo, Don Q and Bacardi so I guess it's used for drinking too.

use Jamaican rum for baking.
