what do these terms mean, and which substances form these type of solutions??

  1. 1. True solution is a homogeneous mixture in which the solute particles are not seen and its size is about 10-7cm. e.g. sugar in water

    2. Suspension is a heterogeneous mixture and the particles can be seen through our naked eye and the particle is about 10-5 cm.  And the particles will settle down on standing can be filtered.  sand in water

    3. Colloidal is also a heterogeneous mixture but the particles size range from 10-7 to 10-5 cm which will settle down when undisturbed but cannot be filtered to separate the particles. sulphur in alcohol

    4. Emulsion is one of the colloidal solution type where both the dispersed phase and dispersion medium are liquids.  There are two types of emulsion i.e. oil in water e.g.  milk and water in oil e.g. butter


  2. all i know is that a suspension is a mixture of a liquid and a finely divided insoluble solid e.g chalk + water
