Question:

Different way on counting the rank in the Olympics?

I have checked other websites, my local newspaper in my country, television, and even radio that china is on top of the list because they won the most golds. It is counted by how many golds a country won, but why, in the main page of Yahoo!, rank the countries differently? It is counted by how many medals won, not by how many golds are won. The majority of countries count by how many golds are won. Why is it different?

  1. because americans dont want to look bad.

  2. America (which is where I am assuming you looked at the home page of yahoo!) has the most medals. This is often true, hence American yahoo chooses to list the medal count by TOTAL first.

  3. America is losing to China and they can't take it so they manipulate the Rankings to suit them.

  4. Don't worry about it. The US will go back to having the medal list starting with gold again, when the next Olympics happen.

  5. I am in America

They Always list the country in order of the medal count

When they list all the country medal, do the list in order of god medals?

    That will look funny

Here how the top four will look

    China-81

    US-88

    Britain-39

    Russia-51

That looks odd, it would look really all listing all the countries like that

    I think this looks better

    US-88

    China-81

    Russia-51

    Britain-39

That is how it always listed in the US, so I guess it's what you are used to
