  1. get an xcel infiniti 4/3 chest zip or a rip curl e or f bomb

    e if you want flexibility

    f if you want warmth

  2. Two piece suits are generally warmer than a single of the same thickness. You have double the insulation over your torso.

There are also what are called semi dry wet suits. Confusing huh? These suits have neoprene seals at ankles, wrists and neck that slow down the water traveling through the suit, keeping that heat you just transferred to the suit water, next to you longer. As the name implies, they actually can be dry at times. It's not uncommon for me to do a dive to 130 feet and surface with 1/2 of my T shirt under my suit to be still bone dry.

These suits cost a little more than a traditional wet suit.

Suit construction material can be a factor here for you too. If you spend a bit of time hopping in and out of your suit all day, a Henderson Insta Dry suit might be to your liking. Unlike traditional neoprene, the Insta Dry sheds water off of it and dries very quickly. A traditional neoprene suit can take hours to dry. Getting into a cold, wet  wetsuit is pretty uncomfortable.

As for comfort, well, as a diver I have found no real difference between a single or two piece. That may be different for a surfer but I wouldn't know as I don't surf.

As for purchasing a suit. Head to your local surf or dive shop. Don't buy online. It may not fit and you'll use up whatever savings you may have gotten with shipping costs trying to get one that does fit. One manufacturer's medium size can be another's large, for example. By going into a shop you'll be able to try on the suit for fit and for any possible restrictive movement. If it's definitely a two piece you're after, you'll have a wider selectionn at a dive shop than a surf shop. Dive shops cater to colder immersion people. Surf shops tend to well...cater to people that spend their time on the surface.
