  1. Operation Management is usually making sure the equipment is working while production management is making sure the workers are working


  2. Operation management may cover a broader range of tasks.  In addition to production, it can also include supply chain, inventory, paper works, delivery of services, etc.  While Production management is of course more specific as it deals with the physical production of goods.

    However, the definitions depend on industry.  Some industries may have specific definitions.  Different companies may have very different job descriptions for the same job title.
