Differentiate between shooting with a gun and a camera?

I am also wonder why taking photos is referred as shooting?

  1. It could be the flash of light which a camera bursts out with. It could be seen as being similar to the flash seen when a gun is shot?

    A camera gives a representation of photon distribution, A gun kills people.


  2. how the term started, i don't know.

    maybe because of the similarities both have pertaining to the process or how we take action:

    they both have a target

    you have to aim it at the target

    they both have a trigger

    you both look through a scope/sight (viewfinders for camera)

    both are expensive hehehe

  3. With a gun - you line the target up in the sights to verify you are on target and will hit where and what you want.

    With a camera (SLR style) you sight your target in the frame of the lens and verify that what you see is what you want to hit your film or digital image square.

    Both require you center the image where you want it before tripping the trigger. (shutter)
