Question:

Difficult path for Federer?

I have not seen as interesting as a draw/path for a top seed in a while. He starts off against Hrbaty who once was as high as #12 in the world. Then faces Monfils in 3rd round, after seeing him in the semis at RG. Then either former champ Hewitt or Gonzalez who has beaten Fed, in 4th round. Followed by the hard hitting Ferrer in quarters, and Australian Champion Djokovic in semis, and perhaps Nadal again in finals for 3rd year in a row or Roddick, Blake, Davydenko. That is a rough draw for a top seed, surely. Then again, with so many good players these days, good match ups are to come earlier than usual. Your thoughts?

  1. On paper, Federer has dangerous players in his draw, but it's only on paper.  This is the grass courts at Wimbledon, and this is Federer.  Djokovic will be his biggest challenge before the finals.

  2. He does a have a tough draw this year compared to last year, but he's defeated these guys before, so unless he has blimps in his games, he should be fine. I still think Federer will win. One grass court title does not mean much to me.

  3. Really the only threat that I see in Federer's half is Djokovic.  But that is one HUGE threat.  Nadal will have a much easier path because of it, even though Roddick possibly looms as a semifinal opponent.
