I bought my Activa 130 several years ago, then it sat idle for about five years. I recently brought it out and started sewing again. It worked fine for a day or two. Then, the power did not go on when I hit the power switch. At first, my husband and I thought there might be a problem with the plug connection since if we jiggled it enough it would turn on. I took it to a repair person who couldn't find anything wrong with it; it worked fine for him. I brought it home and it worked fine for a day or so. When it started acting up again, I found I could get it to turn on by thwacking the back of the machine with my hand. Once the machine is on it stays on just fine. I had a Bernina certified tech look it over and he said he fixed it, but here it is just a few days later and it's starting all over again.
The machine sometimes also takes four or five seconds to start up and makes a fairly loud "brr" noise when it turns on. Is this normal?
My husband thinks there is a loose connection in the power circuit. Is this something he can fix without me having to drag my machine back and forth to a certified repair person?
