I am a new pt student about to enter my first semester of classes. I am nervous, yet also very excited. I am assuming the information will be difficult ,but does this include understanding complex concepts or is the volume of information the challenging aspect. Also, does anyone have any study habit tips to pass on? I know studying emphasis will greatly differ from undergraduate courses. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  1. congrats on your admit to the PT program.

Regarding, the content and volume, I think you will think they are both challenging.  You will be expected to "learn beyond the classroom."  Some concepts you will need to self teach.

The first semester is usually the hardest, but remember that they have invested in you and want to see you succeed.  If you are struggeling with concepts, stay connected with the faculty for further guidance.

Probably the best advice I can give you is to "understand" concepts rather than memorize facts.  For instance, when you need to learn manual muscle and muscle length tests, if you can understand your anatomy, you can figure out almost any test.

    good luck
