The Digicel Grassroots Cricket Programme is getting massive success in terms of the development of cricket and recruitment of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Young-c98322 talent in the far flung areas of the West Indian region. Some officials of the programme report that the strategy is working

The Digicel Grassroots Cricket Programme is a joint venture of West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and Digicel, the mobile phone manufacturing company. The programme was launched on April 8, 2011 with an aim to hunt and flourish the cricket talent in the region.
Digicel has been an official sponsor of West Indies national cricket team since long. The company is also working on a number of projects for cricket development. The Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Programme is an iconic example in this regard.
A Development Officer of the Programme, Dwain Gill, told, “The programme has really been an overwhelming success here in Grenada. You could see the participants demonstrating that they are learning by displaying the right things even as they enjoy playing
the game...the kids have been coming out consistently, they have shown keen interest and they really look forward to the sessions so http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-Muchall-c1499 so that when the sessions end they still want to stay on and play more.”
The WICB has been struggling hard to perk up the standard of cricket in the region since last few years. The board has taken many remarkable steps in this regard.
Recently, the cricket governing body of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 has unleashed a 5-year (2011-2016) development plan for cricket. Under this plan, the national board will provide logistical and financial facilities to the domestic boards and a High Performance Centre
(HPC) is to set up in each of the boards.
The WICB has also inked a deal with Caricom, a West Indian federation, which will work for the upshot of cricket in the ten regional states of the Island.
Moreover, the 2011 Premiership T20 tournament was held by the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) last month and some analysts termed it to be a landmark move for the advancement of the game at local level.
