I have a 8.1 Megapixel Sony Cybershot T-100 Camera. I am confused to which image size to use. I will mostly be viewing the pics on my Macbook and printing a few 4x6 prints and viewing pics on my digital picture frame.

The various sizes are 8M, 3:2, 5M, 3M and 16:9. What size do you recommend I use w/o compromising megapixeles adn optimizing resolution?

Thanks!

  1. cool

  2. You should always shoot on the largest possible setting. You may get that once in a lifetime shot that you want to blow up. You can always shrink the size to post on the web or email but you can't make it bigger.

  3. They say, the bigger the picture is, the more megapixels and better resolution the pictures will have.  But, the smaller the picture, the more pictures you will be able to take without deleting some.  With my Cybershot, I was sure I would be fine with taking fewer pictures because I wanted the BEST pictures.  Well, it only let me take like 12 pictures with it on the biggest setting.  And honestly, I changed it to the smallest setting.  I think it says "Email" on there to get an idea of how big the pictures are.  And they're not small!  They're big and the quality is great also.  Plus, I could take about 75 pictures before deleting some or getting them developed.  I also go to Walmart.com and uploaded the pictures and had them delivered straight to my home for a very very small price.  The pictures look great even on the smaller setting.

  4. 3:2 ratio, should give you a clean 7.1 megapixel image

and it's also the same ratio as a 4x6 picture, so I would say that setting.

  5. always use highest resolution when possible.  you can use any graphic editing program to refine and resize them to suit your need, but you can`t upscale it if you have low-resolution source image.
