My grandparents have two televisions which are not digital. They do not have cable or satellite. They were told that they would need to have didgital cards by February 2009. Could anyone tell me where to find these cards? One of the tvs' have a remote and the other a k**b to change channels. They do not want to purchase new tv's or have another bill with cable or satellite. Thanks for your assistance.

  1. They need Digital Converter boxes.  The converter boxes become the digital tuner for the set.  The converter is inserted between the antenna and the TV and the TV is tuned to whatever channel the converter is outputting (usually channel 3 or 4).  Then all the tuning is done with the converter.

The US government is giving out coupons good for $40 toward the purchase of a converter box.  Each household can apply for no more than two at http://www.dtv2009.com .   The boxes are available at most major retailers (WalMart, Target, Radio Shack, etc.) for about $50 to $70.

I hope this helps.  Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.
