Question:

Digital SLR camera prices?

I would like to buy a Canon EOS 400D, but it's way too expensive for me at the moment (£499 at Jessops.)

How long do you think, if they will, until the prices lower to something more suitable for me (about £250-350 with the lens included)

  1. The prices won't come down until a new model is released.

  2. http://www.digibelt.com/dslr-cameras/can...

got different kind of cameras with cheap price of course

  3. Why that camera? I wouldn't think prices would drop that quickly.

I have a Nikon D40 (which is within your price range) and there's nothing more that I'd need a camera to do.

I used to use a film SLR (old school, perhaps, but I liked it) and by chance I acquired a digital SLR (ie my brother is an idiot and accidentally bought two on eBay).

The Nikon D40 is a very nice camera- in my eyes, as long as it has a user override setting (to change aperture/ shutter speed etc) and records in RAW, I don't need anything else.

Investigate the cheaper range- or ask Jessops. They love digital (a year ago, I hated this aspect...)

  4. I have a 'super-zoom' camera, it is a Panasonic Lumix FZ-8, has 12x Optical zoom on a lovely fast Leica lens, it has a 'simple' mode for when you are first starting with it, but is very fully-featured and versatile.  The lens is equivalent to 36mm up to 432mm if it were on a 35mm camera - they are available for well under 200pounds, have great life from the rechargeable battery, and use SD cards.

Honestly, in terms of performance for the price, these are excellent.

  5. I dont think that they will drop to that price for a very long time yet.

Forget what someone said about getting a D40. People only buy it for its name, and dont realise exactly what it CANT do until its to late.

If its any help to you, I got a Pentax K200D off ebay for less than £400, 10.2 mp, 18-55 lens and 8gb sdhc card.

It has dust seals, sensor cleaning, anti shake system, Auto Bracketing (which the D40 hasnt got amongst other things), metal chassis and lens mount (others are plastic).

3rd party lenses are cheap, as it uses the popular K mount.

Good luck with whatever you choose .
