Digital Stream DTX9900 to vcr?

I can't figure this out, I just hooked up the dtx9900, antenna in to the in on the back of the converter box and the out cable to the vcr and I can't record anything on the vcr. does anyone know if the vcr is the problem.

First, the antenna, rabbit ears or housetop, goes to the Antenna In on the back of the DTX9900. Second, the Antenna Out on the DTX goes to the Antenna In on your VCR, and the switch on the back of the DTX must be in either the Ch 3 or 4 position. Whichever position you choose, you must tune your VCR to that same channel.

OR ... and better ... use the video and two audio outputs on the back of the DTX to the video and two audio inputs on the back of the VCR. And program the VCR to record from this input. It will be called Line 1 or Line 2 or something like that in the VCR control menu.
