Question:

Digital cam difficulties...?

I have a digital camera full of pics and when I plug it into my USB on my comp all I get is 3 quick tones from the comp instead of the one tone that I usually get when plugging anything into the USB. More importantly, the camera doesn't communicate with the comp anymore. The comp doesn't show the camera as a plugged in device. I've reloaded my drivers. I don't have another comp to try it out on but I suspect my cable might be bad. Does anyone know what the 3 quick tones means when I plug the camera into the port?

  1. Try to bend the cable several times to see if it will plug in. If it does - the cable is the problem. If not - try with "add new hardware" from control panel.

  2. Did you check the USB cable?

The wiring inside the cable could be damage.

Try another cable and see whether it work or go buy a card reader and drag & drop the photos.

  3. It could be a bad cable, it could also be a bad port on your computer. Try another port first. If that doesn't work, consider buying a card reader. They can cost about the same and even less than some cables.
