  1. try duracell (the green ones) 15 minute rechargeable's.

i have a powershot a710 IS and the batteries last a good time...

  2. if you're going to look for batteries, try using rechargeable ones (either NiCd or NiMH whichever canon recommends).  they generally last longer than alkaline batteries.  also, look at the mAh (milliampere-hour ) rating of the battery.  a higher number will give you more minutes.

  3. Hi Letitia.  Since your camera is brand new and something curious has arisen,  I would now be wanting to try to decipher what is going on before I took the camera back to the store.   Your batteries may be draining faster than you think they should if you are using the flash (which really eats up the batteries in no time) or if you are plugging the camera into your computer to view them or load them (also puts extra usage to your batteries) or if you are keeping your monitor on excessively to view your pictures....  more than a few seconds a piece or lastly, if you are forgetting to turn your camera off after taking pictures...  I am guilty of that.   You can do nothing about needing to use the flash - that is a given, but you can get a card reader to transfer your pictures to the computer which bypasses the camera and the cord.  You can set the picture viewing time to 4 seconds each and you can try to remind yourself to turn it off when you get through with taking pics.   I turn my camera on and off during the course of taking a series of pictures if I am not shooting one right after the other.  I don't know how many batteries the chamber holds on your camera  but buy enough rechargables to have at least 3 refills which you will recharge at one time and keep in your camera bag.     When you have taken into consideration all that I have mentioned above and the camera is still draining the batteries at an unusually fast rate,  the camera could have an electrical issue that needs to be looked at and possibly serviced.   It is under the manufacturers warranty so you must take advantage of that benefit.  Hope that helps.

  4. I have a PowerShot and I found out that re-chargeable batteries are the best way to go. The best for canon is Kodak. I suggest buying 2 set of the 4pack AA. This way when the other 4 are charging you have 4 that are ready.  Trust me I’ve been doing this for 6 years now. Here’s where you can buy the batteries: http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.j...
