Question:

Digital camera battery problem help!?

I have a new Polaroid digital camera. The camera seems nice but a new set of alkaline batteries only lasted 15 minutes or so. That's pretty rediculous. The camera did not come with a rechargeable battery pack and I dont want to have to buy a whole kit (with recharger and everything). It wouldnt do any good anyway if you have to recharge after 30 minutes or less. What is the solution?

  1. batteries don't last long in a digital camera. it depends on how many pictures you take, how cheap the batteries were, and if the lcd screen is on. to help extend your battery life shut the lcd screen off and take the picture using the view finder.

  2. go to a camera shop and tell them what's wrong and maybe they can help you.

  3. Get rechargeable batteries and a charger which says that it only takes 15 minutes.

  4. Determine the right battery

Lithium batteries are designed for higher drain devices, and devices that need a quick recovery like a camera flash.

Some alkaline batteries, including the Duracell® Ultra and Energizer® e2™ Titanium are also designed for high drain applications and will last up to 50% longer than standard alkaline batteries.

Heavy duty batteries are designed for low drain devices like wall clocks.

    Determine the ‘use by’ date

Some stores may stock batteries for a long time before they are sold. Make sure to check the ‘use by’ date on the package before buying. The freshest alkaline batteries have a date no less than 5 years away. ‘Expired’ batteries have about 85% of their fresh capacity.

    Choosing a brand

Duracell, Energizer, Rayovac, and hundreds of smaller brands flood the market with advertising.

Energizer claims their batteries will keep going, and going and going…outlasting the other brands.

Duracell claims their power packed batteries will last longer than other brands.

Rayovac claims their alkaline batteries last 2x longer than ANY other alkaline battery in digital cameras.

    But who’s right?

Independent tests by companies such as Zbattery.com and TechTv have shown some batteries to be better adapted than others to different devices, but the tests are not conclusive.

The best way to find a battery that works for you is to try different brands and keep track of the amount of life you get from each brand.

  5. get the rechargeable batteries because they will last longer than 15 minutes. Alkaline batteries dont have enough power for digital cameras. Its just a cheap way for the manufacturer to get you started. If you dont want to use rechargeables then try lithium batteries. They are alot more powerful than alkalines but once you use them you throw them out.

  6. You need to get rechargeable NiMH batteries and clean the battery and camera contacts as described in the article at the link below.

You can buy a two hour charger that comes with eight DIGITAL batteries (four AA and four AAA) at Walmart for very little money and your worries will be over.

These batteries will last forever. These are the same type batteries used in most hybrid cars.

I use this two hour DIGITAL charger and the batteries and have had great results.

Make sure you read the article at the link below.  It will really make a difference.
