  1. Duracell Lithium are the best....but pricey.

  2. Use the ones marked Lithium.

  3. The (non-rechargeable) lithium batteries suggested by the others are a good choice.  They'll take a LOT of pictures, and have a very good shelf life if your camera doesn't get used for a while.  The down side to lithium cells is that they tend to get pricey - $9 to $10 for a set of four cells at the local "big box" discounters the last I looked.

If you take a LOT of pictures, you'll probably want to save money by going to rechargeable batteries.  The best ones are Nickel metal Hydride (NiMH)  cells.  I've seen sets of four AA NiMH cells, complete with charger, at the local Wal-Mart for $15 and under for the slow charge type.  Cells that can take 1 hour charging are a few dollars more.  I've happily used rechargeable NiMH batteries in my digital camera for years, and will continue to do so until something better comes along.   The down side of NiMH cells is that they don't hold a long term charge - they'll go dead after a few weeks, even if they're not used.  I don't find this a problem, since I use my cameras frequently enough that I always am charging their batteries..

BTW, stay away from nickel/cadmium (NiCd) rechargeable batteries in digital camera.  They can't deliver the power the camera needs, and will be a huge headache.
