  1. You probably don't need to download anything. Programs that download from a camera, or anything else that the laptop considers as an external drive (ie flash drive), are so prolific that you might even get several that want to download at the time! I hate when that happens.

You need to look at the specific program that is trying to download and find the settings/options for that specific software. If it doesn't have the options to tailor it just the way you want it then find out how to disable it and then try one of the others.

    What others?

First off, Windows itself may try to download in the same way you put CD in and it wants to play.

If you installed software that came with your camera that will certainly want to download your pics (and it should be flexible enough to tailor the setting to your preferences).

Paint programs may want to download from your camera.

I have a HP scanner that want's to download from cameras etc.

There are special programs just for organizing your pictures that will try to download your photos too. You won't find any shortage of them. So first just find out what it is trying to use and go from there.

  2. Try downloading Picasa. Its a free imaging application from Google. It will keep track of what you've already downloaded and only download your new pix.

It's a great application and does most of the functions that people want to do with their pictures. It also includes links to multiple companies that will print your pictures.

I use it all the time and love it. I rarely have to resort to Photoshop.

  3. You could solve this problem by dumping all the photos on your card. Reformat it before before starting to shoot again.

Otherwise, check the program you are using to download photos. There should be an options for "Download most Recent" and "Download All". Select the download most recent.
