When you say "the best" do you really mean it? As that's about $1000 for one of the real best.

But if you mean a good one for the money, check out the Aiptek PocketCam 8200 8-MegaPixels

real good value for the money at $140 bucks or so. Not sure where you can buy it from.

This question is right up my alley.  I searched for weeks and learned that the top three brands in random order were Sony, Nikon and Canon.  After extensive researching I went w/the Sony Cybershot....and by the way, it was the least expensive; just over $200, and I even got Circuit City to throw in a 2 GB sports disc for shooting objects that are moving.  It's good looking, has a great optical zoom, can shoot under water, compact, easy to use and holds 1,000 pix.  I'm in love w/it.  Good luck to you.
