can it be saved?

I sat in the tub ( my two year old threw it in and I didn't notice at first )

If I leave it off until it is completely dried out can it work?

I'm afraid to turn it on in case the water makes something short out.

I'm not techy though so maybe it's a loss anyway?

my dad jumped into a pool with his cell phone in his pocket and didn't notice for 15 minutes.

he let it dry out and it works...so thought I'd ask.

  1. If it can be saved, and I personally think not,  it would be for a repair technician to evaluate.    Take it in to a local repair facility and ask for an evaluation/estimate to look at it to determine its condition.    It will probably cost you a nominal fee....  perhaps $15.00 or so but then, you won't do any further damage by turning it on.   I work at a camera repair store...  all but a very few  water damaged cameras go directly into the trash.

  2. you can try taking out the batteries and memory card then dry it out completely... leave it for maybe 3 days. then try it again with fresh batteries. if it doesn't work after that, then you'll need to have it repaired though i reckon it would be better to just buy a new one.
