  1. Also consider any of the Canons or Panasonics.  Most any point and shoot camera from a major manufacturer does great photos.

  2. i would get a Sony Cyber shot T70 its 8.1 mega pixel touch screen and its  got face detection its pretty small ( about the size of the palm of your hand ) its also a video camera .and touch screen

  3. How about this one, it's a bargain.

  4. Sony Cybershot with7.2 or 8.2 Megapixles having good options,

    its having good quality

  5. There are dozens of good digital cameras and even more c**p ones. Rather than just list my favourate (Canon Ixus) I'll tell you what to look for when buying it.

Choose one that has at least 3x optical zoom. Please completely ignore all references to digital zoom. This is just a trick to 'enlarge' the picture by cropping all pixels outside of the central area and enalrging the middle ones. On anything above a 3x2" print you'll see the blurring.

Digital camera resolution is expressed in Megapixels. Look for anything greater than 6MP for a print that will be good when done on A4 size.

If your budjet will stretch then get one with an optical viewfinder. This is a traditional viewfinder that you have to look through. They are always coupled to the zoom lens so you see exactly what you're photographing. There are two huge advantages to optical viewfinders compared with relying on the camera back-screen.

1,     You can switch off the camera's screen and so save a lot of battery. These screens use enough power to halve the battery life. It wil mean careful study of the camera's maual. When you want to look at the pictures after taking them it's always very easy to switch the screen back on.

    2.     When taking pictures in anything other than dull conditions it often very difficult to see the image on the screen. An optical viewfinder never suffers from this problem.

Most digital cameras save their pictures onto a memory card. There are several different types, all incompatible with each other. The most common type is the SD card. These are available almost anywhere and are now much cheaper than any other types of equivalent capacity. Some television sets and DVD recorders have SD slots in them so that you can play yoru pictures as a slideshow directly in the tv set.

Unfotunately, Sony tend to use their own type of card which is quite expensive and not compatible with most tv set card slots.

Get one with rechargable battery. They last a long time on each charge, longer than ones which use repalceable AAA size batteries. Always invest a few extra pounds on a spare battery that your husband should keep charged up and carry in the camera case. Most don't come with a decent case so order one of these with the camera.

As for quality of camera you won't go wrong with Nikon, Canon, Sony, or any of the big names. Be careful of brands that you don't recognise.

This has to last for years and will be responsible for capturing you precious memories. Therefore you should get the best that you can afford not  the cheapest available.  If it's not eay to use he won't use it. The best brands are very easy to use.

The best place to look is Amazon.com for the good range, competitive prices and speedy delivery.
