Question:

Digital cordless phone not working properly?

I just bought a digital cordless phone for my house and I have been having problems with it since I got it. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes I can't get a dial tone (I turn it on and it beeps 3 times rapidly then turns off?) and sometimes I turn it on and it's just static. When I can't get a dial tone or it's pure static there is nothing I can do to fix it, I try unplugging it and everything, nothing works, I just have to wait for it to start working again on it's own (usually does within a few hours). I've previously only had analog cordless phones, so I don't know if it's got something to do with being digital or if the phone is just c**p and I should take it back. It's a GE, so it's a decent brand not one of the cheapo's. Is there anything I can do? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

  1. Hi julie: Since your cordless phone is new,you must place it on charge in the base unit for a minimum of 14 to 20 hours. That means do not try to use it. When the phone is in the base unit, make sure the charge light is on. Please read your operations manual.I hope this is helpful. If not, it may be a bad battery or even the phone.  exbelltel
