Digital out/in/puts?

i was wondering do i need a digital output or input to receive sounds from my xbox 360.

and what good dvd player (home cinema) thats has one of the outputs thanks

  1. Not sure there isn't some confusion here.

    Normal analog stereo inputs on a receiver or amp will work fine. An output is to send sound from a receiver or amp to something else (e.g. TV, VCR, DVR). You are usually looking for inputs not outputs.

    You only need a digital connection if you want surround sound.

    Almost any DVD player will have either an optical or digital coax output (and many have both). But, a DVD player originates sound, it doesn't play it from an Xbox.

    I suspect you mean receiver ... and almost any receiver built in the last 10 years or so will have at least one optical or digital coax inputs. Just check the specs.
